Home Straight

Bolted the nose cone and the scuttle in to place, aligned with the bonnet for a good fit. Fitted some rubber strip to the panels.

Handbrake Bolts

With the handbrake in the forward position due to the reversing motor, the centre tunnel cover is a real pain to fit. I decided to to get couple of m8 bolts welded to the underside of the bracket to allow easier fitting and a more permanent solution.

As I don't have a welder, I called a friend to give me a hand, Steve came over and spot welded the nuts in place. Great job and saved me a load of hassle.

Fitted the centre tunnel and bolted the handbrake in to place through the top.

Steering Wheel Plug Connector

Needed a way to remove the steering wheel and having the dash controls permanently wired was not ideal, after a little research I found a plug and socket arrangement that seemed suitable. Cut the cables and soldered in to place.

Boot Lid Panel #1

First made a template for the boot lid panel in MDF, took a couple of attempts but got there in the end.  Used the template to help cut out the plastic sheet provided by MNR, not overly keen with the plastic carbon effect. Will replace with a layered carbon fibre version at a later date.

Front Arches #2

Re fitted the front arches, marked the front edge on both to have a slash cut edge. Cut with the grinder cutting wheel and finished by hand with a sanding block.

Making some real progress now, need to start thinking about sorting out the IVA test.

Side Bars

Fitted the side bars, drilled the chassis mounting holes through the tub. Drilled from the inside out using the hole in the chassis bracket as a guide.

Bolted all in place and noticed on the passenger side that the tub had been pulled in to the chassis and caused the scuttle to be out by 5mm. I used two large repair washers to space out the tub and fitted them between he chassis and the fibreglass tub. Then bolted the side bars in to place and maintained good spacing of the body panels.
