Turbo Engine #2

Removed the starter motor casing and starter gears. Wanted to see the age of the engine so I removed the bolt from the end of the crank to see if there was a flat / missing spline to position the starter gear. On closer inspection I can see that all of the splines are there on the crank which means that the engine is an early gen 1 hayabusa. Just need to make sure that I align the marks when I re assemble.

The magneto wheel is also from an early engine and has been machined to a 24-1 configuration, unfortunately the slots are curved from the milling machine. I will need to get it modified to have a squarer slot. The curved slots are fine for the standard ECU, but the signal is not a good enough for aftermarket ECU's. Will get it re machined or replaced later.

I also removed the cam chain tensioner, need to check the condition of the small pin and rubber on the rear of the head. The cam chain tensioners can be replaced with a screw type solution, however I have been told that a better solution is to stay with the standard method as the pressure on the chain increases and decreases with oil pressure. This helps to release strain on the engine when engine braking and coming off the gas.
